This vibrant parade will bring the people of Bury together, to explore the shared communicative power and expressive potential of hands.
Before the parade, look out for the Many Hands professional dancers roaming The Rock, demonstrating parts of the choreographed event and more, from 11am to 12.30pm.
The professional dance artists of Many Hands have been working with Bury community groups, including MAD theatre and Elmsbank School, for the parade itself.
The parade performance starts at 2pm with a beautiful quartet by four professional dancers from the Many Hands team, outside Racconto Lounge. The parade then leaves and travels around The Rock twice and back to Racconto Lounge, where and when the parade performers invite everyone/the public, to join in.
Want to join in with your own hand prop? A drop-in craft and movement workshop is taking place 11.30am to 1.30pm at TJ Hughes, in The Mill Gate Shopping Centre (no need to book, but a short wait may be required if busy at times)…here you can make/draw/craft your own hand on a stick, with professional artist, Nerissa Cargill-Thompson, plus learn a few moves, to join the big dance at the end of the parade. Suitable for all the family, but children must be accompanied by an adult.
