Tottington stretches between Walshaw and Affetside and leads to Holcombe Brook and rural Bolton, bordering Greenmount and Hawkshaw. Originally open farmland, Tottington was once regarded as fine hunting country. The Dungeon in Turton Road was built during the industrial revolution, although once well used it is now a curiosity for visitors.
Whitehead Gardens was established, on the site of a World War II direct hit from a wayward flying bomb on Christmas Eve 1944, with a donation from the Whitehead family. Today Tottington is a popular district centre sitting in the heart of a popular...residential area. The centre of Tottington is home to a range of local independent shops, restaurants and supermarkets.
