Lightopia is a safe and socially distanced event taking part at Heaton Park.

Lightopia is an immersive and visually-dramatic lantern and light festival, that promises to fuse beautiful art installations with human experience.

The very first of its kind in the UK and Europe, Lightopia is an exploration of light, movement and form, beautifully captivating the senses with unique interactive and immersive lights, lanterns, installations and incredible lasers with water-screen multimedia shows, destined to create unforgettable memories and provide alternative family fun throughout the festival season.

Lightopia opening dates and times

Lightopia runs from the 20th November unti the 3rd January 2021. Opening times are between 17:00 to 22:00, and last entry is 20:30 daily.

Getting to Lightopia

Lightopia takes place at Heaton Park which has its own tram stop. If you need to drive you can pre-book parking tickets.

What to expect

Explore the vibrant colours of the lantern festival and take in the spectacular light installations around Heaton Park. The new route has been designed to create a safe environment, where Lightopians are able to see the sights safely and maintain social distancing. The trail includes amazing light and lantern installations around the these themes:
