It may be a long way to Tipperary, but it’s just a short way to the East Lancashire Railway and their 1940s Weekend. This award-winning vintage event hosted by the popular Bury based attraction is back for its nineteenth year this Spring Bank Holiday Weekend with more entertainment and activities than ever before.

This year’s highlights include 1940s singers and entertainers, specifically event veterans Paul Harper, Mr Don Gentile, The Lancashire Belle and The Hotsie Totsies, as well as newcomers, home-front hipsters The Washboard Resonators,  sophisticated solo act The Vintage Vocalist as well as fun-filled duo The Rum & Cola Girls, live battle scenarios, themed stations, vintage and military vehicles, a working Spitfire, WW2 tank displays, military exhibitions and talks, static Spitfire and Messerschmitt displays, vintage memorabilia stalls, characters from ‘Allo, ‘Allo, dance sessions, evening entertainment, craft workshops, living history displays, VE Day concert, ration card quiz, hundreds of re-enactors, as well as unlimited travel on heritage steam engines!

Day tickets are available for adults at £19.00, concessions at £17.00, children (5 – 17 years) at £11.00 and families (2 adults and 3 children) at £47.00. Children under 5 years are free. Two and three day tickets are also available.
