The rich history and heritage of Bury and surrounding area is represented through the collections and displays at our museums together with a wide range of cultural activities on offer.
Take a stroll around Bury’s Culture Quarter in the centre of town where you will find a significant and unique cultural scene dominated by the newly opened Bury Sculpture Centre with a programme including numerous international festivals, bringing the best in international art to local audiences and cultural tourists alike.
Next door at Bury Art Museum find out more about the history of Bury and see challenging contemporary art combined with world famous paintings, historic objects and fascinating documents from Bury’s past in a distinctive Edwardian building.
Dont miss the Fusilier Museum located just opposite home to the collections of the XX Lancashire Fusiliers and the Royal regiment of Fusiliers from napoleon right up to present day.
Why not jump on board and explore whilst experiencing the sounds, smell and stunning surroundings on the East Lancashire Railway or visit Bury Transport Museum with its fantastic collection of road and rail vehicles telling the story of people and transport in the early 20th Century.
A little further afield Radcliffe has its origins in a medieval manor, next to Close Park, which is the subject of a current Radcliffe Heritage research and improvement project. Completion is expected in late 2015.
