Purple Flag
Bury town centre has held a prestigious Purple Flag award since 2015 in recognition of its thriving evening and night-time economy. The Purple Flag – similar to the Blue Flag for beaches – aims to raise the standards and broaden the appeal of the town and city centres from early evening until late.
Areas awarded with a Purple Flag are recognised for providing a vibrant and diverse mix of dining, entertainment and culture while promoting the safety and well-being of visitors and local residents.
Or, to put it more simply, a Purple Flag indicates where to go for a good night out! And this means not just for pubs and clubs but for a wide range of activities including arts and culture, leisure, eating out and events.
It’s not hard to see why Bury town centre ticks all the boxes with a growing number of restaurants, late opening cafes and attractions, plus major cultural events all adding to the mix and attracting visitors and residents of all ages.
