Burrs Country Park, is a beautiful country park located just a mile outside Bury town centre.

The park, which holds a Green Flag Award, is a great place to visit and, with the River Irwell meandering through, this is an ideal spot for riverside walks, fishing or some nature watching. For the more adventurous outdoor activities including kayaking, climbing and raft building are all available at Burrs Activity Centre (pre-booking usually required).

The East Lancashire Railway runs along the edge of the park so there are plenty of opportunities to view these spectacular steam engines.. From January 2017, a new station will link this popular heritage railway with Burrs, allowing visitors hop on and off in the park itself.

The park owes part of its existence to Bury's industrial past and Burrs was one of area's earliest mill sites and many remnants of which still exist today. However, Burrs is also home to some of the most impressive works on the ever evolving Irwell Sculpture Trail which runs from Salford to the West Pennine Moors.  Follow the trail north from the park to the small village of Summerseat or continue on to the small market town of Ramsbottom packed with cafes and restaurants. (From 2017 you will be even be able to return by steam train!)

As well as year round attractions, Burrs hosts a growing number of events from local park runs to the Bury’s annual agricultural show and cultural extravaganzas making it no surprise that Burrs Caravan Club Site is one of the Club’s most popular and an ideal base for visitors to explore the surrounding area.

Other facilities include a pub on site and Burrs Activity Centre Cafe ( open limited days and times only)
