Burrs Country Park is a beautiful country park located just a mile outside Bury town centre.
The park, which holds a Green Flag Award, is a great place to visit and, with the River Irwell meandering through, an ideal spot for riverside walks, fishing or nature watching and with the East Lancashire Railway running along the edge of the park offering plenty of opportunity to view spectacular steam engines.
The park owes part of its existence to Bury's industrial past and Burrs was one of area's earliest mill sites, many remnants of which still exist today. However, Burrs is also home to some of the most impressive works on the ever-evolving Irwell Sculpture Trail, which runs from Salford to the West Pennine Moors. Follow the trail north from the park to the small village of Summerseat or continue on to the small market town of Ramsbottom packed with cafes and restaurants.
As well as year-round attractions, Burrs hosts a growing number of events from local park runs to Bury’s annual agricultural show and cultural extravaganzas, making it no surprise that Burrs Caravan Club Site is one of the Club’s most popular, and an ideal base for visitors to explore the surrounding area.
Other facilities include a pub on site and a dog friendly cafe selling ice cream, cakes and coffee.
