Bury town centre’s Cultural Quarter is home to The Met, a small, but incredibly successful, arts venue. Winner of ‘Best Entertainment Venue’  at the Manchester Tourism Awards, this is the place to go for music, theatre and comedy. Internationally regarded for its folk events The Big Whistle Festival and Homegrown attract the very best on the English Folk scene.

Nearby, Bury Art Museum is not only home to the treasured Wrigley Art Collection with stunning works by JMW Turner and John Constable but also hosts contemporary exhibitions that offer new ideas and perceptions of art. If you want to develop your own creative talents then there are plenty of workshops and courses on offer. Try one of the gallery’s ‘Thank Art’ events.

2014 saw the addition of Bury Sculpture Centre, the hub for the Irwell Sculpture Trail and a stunning contemporary space, focusing on works by international  as well as UK artists.

There are plenty of cultural happenings across the whole of Bury. Transition, a development of the popular Bury Light Night is a new festival over 2 nights. The festival for 2016 included elements of light and sound, focused in 3 main areas around the culture quarter of Bury Town Centre, Kay Gardens, Church Gardens and Gallipoli Gardens and outside the Castle Armoury on Castle Street. Planning for the 2017 festival is currently underway.

For music you can take your pick from outdoor festivals to small concerts and gigs.
